Shaolin Kungfu Tour:
Henan is the cradle of Kungfu Wushu originated in Shaolin Temple,Songshan
Mountains
,
Henan, is the one of the representatives of Chinese Kungfu.
Shaolin Temple was built in A.D.495,the 19th year of the reign titled
Taihe of the Northern Wei, when an Indian monk was transmitting his
doctrines here.In A.D.527,Bodhidharma, a 28th generation patriarch
of the school founded by Sakyamauni's disciple Kasyapa,arrived in
Luoyang from India after passing though Guangdong and crossing the
Yangtze River at Nanjing.He settled in the Shaolin Temple and gathered
together a large following to whom he taught the doctrines of Chan
Buddhism. The temple was expanded rapidly and soon became known far
and wide. In the early years of the Tang dynasty, Li shimin, who later
became emperor Taizong, received much help from the Shaolin monks
Zhijian, Huiyang and Tanzong in his wars against Wang Shichong, a
rebel general of the preceding Sui dynasty. The monks were highly
commended by the rulers of the Tang and the temple,with the full backing
of the imperial court,developed faster than ever. It became a Buddhist
foundation of the ''Number One Temple Under Heaven".
Shaolin Temple is famous for its martial arts,known as Shaoliin Kungfu
in many parts of the world. Shaolin boxing skills are practiced all
over the world today. Now there is a magnificent Shaolin Wushu Training
Center at the east side of Shaolin Temple, Shaolin Kungfu performances
are held everyday and Wushu training courses taught by Shaolin Kungfu
monks and masters are held all the year round which domestic and international
groups and individuals can participate in.Zhengzhou International
Shaolin Wushu Festival is held every two years.
Chen Style Taiji:
Chenjiagou Village,Wenxian County, the birth place of Chen Style
Taijiquan,is located on the Qingfeng Hill near the Yellow River
bank,60 kilometers northwest of Zhengzhou.It takes 1 hour by bus
to get there form Zhengzhou. 600 years ago, a master named Chen
Bu created wonderful Taijiquan on the basis of martial aets handed
down in the family form generation to generation and absorbing essence
of other martial arts, ancient Chinese philosophy and traditional
medical principles, making Chenjiagou, a common village, a holy
land for Chinese and international Wushu practitioners. Taijiquan
Training Center located in the countryside, where the training programs
are given all year around. The international Taijiquan Annual Meeting
is held in September when famous masters perform and teach Taijiquan
for domestic and international tourists and Wushu practitioners.
